Enterprise Kiltullagh CLG

Enterprise Kiltullagh is a local voluntary community development company committed to the economic and social regeneration of Ballinlough and surrounding districts. It was established in the early nineties, when abandoned buildings were painful reminders of economic decline and emigration. Enterprise Kiltullagh is a company limited by guarantee, run by a board of directors working on a voluntary basis.

Following a community consultation process and preparation of an action plan, the first major project undertaken was the purchase and development of the derelict premises known as Waldron’s. Today, this site houses four apartments, a hair salon, an engineering company, Solas community employment office, auctioneer and road marking firm. Furthermore, it houses a very successful boxing club and a community space used regularly for meetings, dancing classes, yoga etc.

Enterprise Kiltullagh sponsors the Community Employment Scheme employing fifteen local people. This scheme assists the local sporting and cultural organisations and helps to maintain the village and surrounding areas to a high standard.
Following the recession of 2008, two buildings at the end of the town were being sold off by a receiver. When no interest was shown locally, Enterprise Kiltullagh decided to purchase them. One was subsequently sold on, and the other was developed into the new very successful EK Digital Hub with the aid of LEADER and our own investment.

Enterprise Kiltullagh was responsible for commencing work on the looped walk at Lake O’ Flynn. Following a successful application to Roscommon County Council to develop the site owned by the council, the Lake Development Committee was established with representation from all local organisations.
With support from Inland Fisheries Ireland, our Community Employment Scheme and Roscommon County Council, two looped walks were developed along with car parking and outdoor gym facilities. The Lake O’ Flynn Loop and the Wild Goose Loop are widely used, and walkers enjoy greatly the bog’s tranquillity, smells and sounds, flora and fauna.

Enterprise Kiltullagh maintains the walks and the area around the carpark and is currently engaged in the extension of the lake shore walk and further development of the outdoor gym and car park. The success of these efforts was evidenced in 2022 when the looped walks scored an impressive mark of 97% in an inspection by Sport Ireland.

As a CLG Enterprise Kiltullagh is registered with the Companies Registration Office, where our details and accounts are available to view.
The directors of Enterprise Kiltullagh look forward to many more positive developments in our community.
